Anthropic Disputes Jailbreak Rationale Behind Fable 5 Shutdown

In its statement, Anthropic said the government's concern appears to rest on a narrow, non-universal jailbreak amounting to asking the model to read a codebase and fix software flaws. The company says it red-teamed Fable's safeguards for thousands of hours with the US government, UK AISI and third parties, found no universal jailbreak, and that comparable capability is widely available from other models including OpenAI's GPT-5.5.
